Experience magical adventures with Maileg
The Danish designer Dorthe Mailil has been creating enchanting toys with her Maileg brand since 1999, which combine Scandinavian design, creativity and attention to detail. The name is made up of her surname Mailil and the Danish word for “play”, namely “leg” and it says it all: Mailil's dreamy designs come to life at Maileg and invite you into an enchanted world where princesses drink tea and eat macarons, mice make themselves comfortable in matchboxes and rabbits dance ballet.
Malil, who studied at L’ecole D’art de Marseilles in Paris, among other things, describes her time there as an inspiration for the fairytale-nostalgic world she created with Maileg. She wants to stimulate the imagination with her products and enable playful discovery with the lovingly designed characters. The typical Maileg aesthetic along with muted colors such as dusky pink, petrol, gray, mustard yellow and subtle cream tones is complemented again and again by loving highlights such as small golden crowns and makes not only children's hearts beat faster, but also collectors' hearts.
During production, a lot of emphasis is placed on high-quality natural materials such as linen and cotton and the attention to detail is reflected here, for example, in the hand-sewn clothes of the figures.
Due to the high quality of the materials and the workmanship, the toys are very durable. This aspect also represents Maileg's concept of sustainability: the toy should be a companion thanks to its longevity, which can be passed on and passed on with a good feeling. The Maileg brand has already received several design awards since it was founded and has also expanded to America, where the products are sold by Bergdorf Goodman and other well-known retailers, for example.
